Manually upload and register a device description file

The manual EDS / Device Description Upload function allows you to upload and register the device description file of a specific device in the
FactoryTalk Linx
 Network Browser
. With the manual EDS / Device Description Upload function, you can register a device description file at a time.
To manually upload and register a device description file
  1. In the
    FactoryTalk Linx
     Network Browser
    , select a device in the network topology tree.
  2. Click
    More
     More icon and select
    EDS / Device Description Auto Upload
    , or right-click the device and select
    EDS / Device Description Upload
    .
  3. If the target device has registered a device description file, the following warning message shows:
    "An EDS / Device Description is already registered for this device. Are you sure you still want to upload and register this EDS / Device Description file?"
    Click
    OK
     to continue and replace the existing device description file, or click
    Cancel
    to stop the uploading process and retain the existing device description file on the current computer.
A progress circle shows the registration status. Wait while the system registers the device. if you want to register several device description files, repeat Step 1 to Step 3.
