Automatically upload and register a device description file

The EDS / Device Description Auto Upload function enables the
FactoryTalk Linx
Network Browser
to automatically upload and register device description files for a selected node and its child nodes. For an online device whose device description file is not registered, the system detects whether there is a device description file within the device's firmware. If there is a device description file found, the system automatically uploads it from the device and registers it on the current computer. With the EDS / Device Description Auto Upload function, you can register several device description files at a time.
To automatically upload and register a device description file
  1. Turn on the device description file auto-upload button Device description file auto-upload button in the
    FactoryTalk Linx
    Network Browser
    .
    Auto-upload enabled

    FactoryTalk Linx

A progress circle shows beside the unregistered device indicating the EDS / Device Description auto upload status.
