Import Ladder Diagram Rung Considerations

The following are ladder logic import considerations:
Rung Import Considerations
The import process for a selection of rungs follows this behavior:
Configuration
Behavior
Import Rungs
Import Rungs is read only and displays the number of rungs as read from the import file.
Operation
Valid Operation choices are:
  • Use Existing - does not import the rungs, but does import any referenced components according to their operation configurations.
  • Overwrite - replaces the currently selected rungs with the import rungs.
  • Create - inserts the rungs before (Insert mode) or after (Append mode) the first rung in the current selection.
  • Discard - does not import the rungs, but does import any referenced components according to their operation configurations.
Location
The Location describes how the imported rungs affect the routine.
Name
The Name is read only and displays the name of the routine into which the rungs are being imported.
Description
The Description is read only and displays the description of the routine as it is defined in the project (the description of the routine into which the rungs are being imported).
Type
Read-only. Displays the routine type. This is always Ladder Diagram, but the icon may be different depending on the routine’s function in the program, phase, or Add-On Instruction. Icon is decorated as it would be in the controller organizer.
In Program
In Phase
In Instruction
This field is read only and displays the name of the program, equipment phase, or Add-On Instruction in which the routine resides.
You cannot import rungs into a routine that has accepted edits or if another routine in the same program or phase has accepted edits. You can import if the program or routine has pending edits.
