Module Faults

When you are online and the module is faulted, the icon representing this module in the controller organizer displays the Module Fault Icon. This indicates that the controller is not communicating with this module.
In general, the module fault codes indicate that something is wrong with the communications between the controller and the module. Common causes of such problems are:
  • The physical module is:
    • not compatible with the module configured in the software
    • a different module type
    • a different module revision
  • The module is unplugged; the chassis is powered down.
  • The network cabling is faulty in some way - disconnected, frayed, not properly terminated.
  • A communications module on the path to this module is not scheduled or not working in some other fashion. Examine the module icons in the I/O Configuration section of the Controller Organizer, find the one closest to the controller that indicates a fault, and examine its Connection properties tab. If it is not scheduled, run RSNetWorx to schedule the entire network.
