Inclusive Leadership in Times of Change: How to Work Across Difference – and Time Zones

Dean Delpeache, Tim Lavell, Gustavo Zecharies

The transition to a new way of working - in the context of a global pandemic - presents both challenges and opportunities for promoting diversity and fostering inclusion. It's more important than ever for organizations and individuals to practice inclusive leadership. In this session, panelists will discuss current challenges engaging remote teams, overcoming bias, and how to work effectively using inclusive leadership behaviors.

10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.

Intent vs. Impact: Your Words & Actions Matter

Ed Campbell, Rachael Anderson, Dennis Colbert, Mike Hutchings

“You are so articulate.” "You should smile more." These everyday verbal and nonverbal slights, known as microaggressions, are typically not intended to cause harm, or hurt feelings, but their impact often does just that. In this session, panelists will discuss examples of microaggressions, their impact, and how to address them in the workplace.

11:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

Diversity Fatigue: Addressing Culture & DEI Burnout

Ed Campbell, Annisha Vaughn, Robb Skruck, Sharon Van Zeeland

Driving for a more diverse, equitable work environment can be daunting, overwhelming, and exhausting at times. This feeling of overwhelm within DEI is called ‘diversity fatigue,’ and it can impact any organization. Knowing how to mitigate diversity fatigue to avoid pausing DEI initiatives or giving up on building a diverse workforce altogether starts with understanding what diversity fatigue is and the ways in which your team can overcome it. Panelists will discuss how to reinvigorate the spark and organizational engagement, moving from a moment to a movement, to continue making progress in your DEI journey.

1:00 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.

DEI Strategy to Execution: Operationalizing Your Strategy to Drive Real Change

Candace Barnes, Bobby Griffin, Peter Bell, Kim Goodwin, Annie Sheehan-Kerber

A strong Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategy can help your organization attract top talent, drive innovation, and increase profitability. Expressing a desire to hire and retain a more diverse workforce is one thing, but creating sustainable culture change requires a thoughtful, intentional strategy. Whether you're just beginning your DEI journey, or you are 10+ years in, it's important to keep momentum and continue to make progress. Panelists will discuss how to launch an effective DEI initiative and keep your organization engaged along your journey.

2:00 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.

Gen Z: Attracting the Next Generation of Talent

Dean Delpeache, Sherman Joshua, Marisol Coriano, Jodie Schroeder

By 2030, Gen Z employees will make up 30% of the global workforce and will play a vital role in shaping the workplace for decades to come.  Gen Zers tend to look for a company that aligns with their personal values, offers flexibility and transparency, and authentic connection. Is your company prepared to attract, retain, and develop the next generation of talent? In this session, panelists will discuss current strategies to better attract and retain Gen Z talent through mentor and sponsor relationships, networking, and development opportunities and more.

3:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.

Talent Wars: The Impact of the Great Resignation

Dean Delpeache, Jess Larson, Carolyn Lee, Matt Heiden

Voluntary turnover is at an all-time high. The great resignation is an ongoing economic trend, impacting all industries, in which employees are voluntarily resigning from their jobs in mass quantities. This trend has created a unique challenge for companies to better attract and retain the best talent. In this session, panelists will discuss the impact of the Great Resignation and share real examples and best practices to combat this growing trend.

9:00 a.m. - 9:45 a.m.

How Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Creates Belonging for Everyone

Andrew Hastert, Eric Chalengeas, Shannon McKay, Nicole Darden

When you hear the phrase “diversity, equity and inclusion,” you might be thinking of various underrepresented and disenfranchised groups of people (i.e., Black, Asian, Latinx, women, LGBTQ+ and disabled, to name a few.) White, cisgender men tend to end up on the outskirts of these conversations and initiatives, even though they are the largest workforce component in many organizations and generally occupy most leadership roles. So, how do you balance buy-in and engagement of the dominant group, while ensuring underrepresented groups are supported to succeed in the workplace? In this session, panelists will discuss why it's important and how to engage dominant group members to ensure everyone feels a sense of belonging and inclusion.

10:00 a.m.  - 10:45 a.m.

The Inclusive Terminology Ripple Effect

Linda Freeman, Elena Dunne, Juergen Weinhofer, Elise Ring

Language is not neutral, not even in science and technology. In 2020, Rockwell formally launched the Adopting Inclusive Terminology Initiative to create unified guidance for identifying, replacing, and avoiding offensive and racially biased language in our products and content. Terms that we've changed include man hours, senior moment, blacklist, whitelist, black hat hacker and white hat hacker. In this session, panelists will share why inclusive terminology matters, and the impact to our business and industry.

11:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

Belonging vs. Fitting In: Attracting Talent that Stays

Candace Barnes, Gina Claxton, Claudio Vespucci, Steve Nguyen

You can attract all the best talent in the world, but what makes them want to stay? Having a culture that fosters trust and belonging. Belonging is being accepted for you - being able to be your authentic self. Fitting in is being accepted for being like everyone else. Are your team members fitting in, or are they experiencing belonging? In this session, panelists will discuss the difference between belonging and fitting in, how to impact your employees' experience and why it matters to your bottom line.

1:00 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.

Your Future Workforce: How to Leverage Inclusion and Diversity for Talent Attraction, Development & Retention

Candace Barnes, Bobby Griffin, Gosia Prior, Claudio Vespucci

Creating a more diverse workplace is a top priority for employers, but many companies struggle to find and attract, develop, and retain diverse talent. The problem is not the pipeline. In this session, panelists will share insights to source, attract, and hire, develop and retain diverse talent to enable your business success.
